Mangalore, Nov 20: Mukti Prakash High School, Nirude, near here, will be celebrating its silver jubilee on Thursday December 11. The Holy Mass will be offered at 9.30 am and the flag will be hoisted by school alumnus Bro Ashwin Vas SVD.
Fr Wilson L V D’Souza, secretary, Catholic Board of Education, will preside over the stage programme. Madhu Kumar, member, taluk panchayat, Poovappa Gowda, member, Nirude gram panchayat, and Muktanand Shetty, entrepreneur, Mucchoor, will be the chief guests on the occasion.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the concluding ceremony at 6.00 pm on the same day. Fr Wilson L V D’Souza, Fr Alfred J Pinto, vicar, Kinnigoli deanery, Sr Inviolata B S, regional superior, Mangalore Bethany congregation, Moodbidri MLA K Abhayachandra Jain, K P Sucharita Shetty, president, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, former minister K Amarnath Shetty, Shaila Sequeira, member, zilla panchayat, Vajrakshi Shetty, president, taluk panchayat, Loknath Salian, president, Kallamudkoor gram panchayat, and Cyprian Monteiro, block education officer, Moodbidri, will be the chief guests on the occasion.
Various cultural programmes will be held to mark the silver jubilee celebrations.
Mukti Prakash High School was set up by Fr Pietas D’Souza for the benefit of rural students at Nirude in 1982. Although it is a Kannada medium school, it comes as succour to the economically backward and rural students. The school administration lays due importance on extra curricular activities and contributes to the all round growth of students.
The correspondent of school seeks contributions from philanthropists for the projects proposed for the silver jubilee celebration, such as renovating the school building, constructing Akshara Dasoha block and additional toilet facilities, and creation of a poor students’ education fund.
