Mangaluru, Nov 14: The city traffic police, in accordance with the instructions issued by the city police commissioner, conducted a drive against windshields of cars coated with tint films, and removed such films from 20 cars on Tuesday November 13.
A team of police personnel, acting under the supervision of the city traffic assistant police commissioner, conducted this special operation. During the operation, the police on their own identified erring vehicles and removed tint from 20 cars.
In the past, a fine of Rs 100 was imposed on cars with tint glasses when found. However, in spite of Supreme Court order against using tint, there had been worrisome rise in the number of vehicles using tint film since about a year. Therefore, the police stopped such vehicles, and removed tint instead of letting the cars go after imposing fine.
City police commissioner, T R Suresh, and deputy commissioners of police, Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashanth, guided th operation which was executed by city traffic department assistant commissioner of police, Manjunath Shetty, and inspectors, Amanulla and Shivaprakash, who were supported by the traffic policemen.
