Mangaluru, Nov 14: Over 11 persons have been arrested for conspiring to rob of a Jewellery owner have been arrested by the city police.
A police team led by Mangaluru rural police inspector Sidda Gowda Bajantri and anti-rowdy squad took 11 persons who were conspiring to rob a jewellery owner near Mangalore Hills road in Pachanady.
The accused who were taken into custody are Sheikh Mohemmed Ansar (34), Rameez (21), Mohammed Tauseef alias Tachu (24), Mohammed Tauseef (25), Ubedulla (25), Mohammed Ali (25), Ahmed Kabir (30), Asgar Ali (27), Sabith (19), Mohammed Sabad (22) and Amir Ali (19).
The police have seized a Maruti 800 car, Maruti Ritz, iron rods and weapons, fake number plates and Rs 16,050 cash which are worth Rs 3,66,050.
During interrogation, they have reportedly confessed to have conspired to loot cash and gold belonging to one Santhosh, owner of a jewellery shop in Rathabeedi. Four other accused in this case are on the run.
The accused are facing several cases of murder, murder attempt, robbery and POCSO in Karnataka and Kerala.
A case was registered at Urwa police station after another similar group looted cash belonging to the same jewellery shop owner recently.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of city police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Hanumantharaya, DCP Uma Prashanth, ACP K Rama Rao and staff.
