Ramanagara, Nov 13: A JD(S) leader, who was functioning as the general secretary of SC/ST unit of the party, was murdered by a gang of four criminals at Kanakapura town in the district on Monday, November 12.

The murdered leader has been identified as R T Rajgopal. He was having tea near Janani Hospital on Ramanagara Road in Kanakapura when four people armed with lethal weapons attacked him. Rajgopal bled to death, having been stabbed in his neck and chest.

Rajgopal, who was a native of P Rampura village in the district, happened currently to be a resident of Kanakapura.

Reportedly, a few people had fought with Rajgopal on Monday evening on some frivolous issue. After this scuffle, Rajgopal had proceeded to near Janani Hopsital to have tea. People, who had fought with him earlier, it is said, followed Rajgopal and hacked him with sharp weapons.

Identities of the attackers have not yet been established. The four people, after the murder, escaped instantly, it is learnt.

Kanakapura town station police personnel arrived at the spot. They dispatched the mortal remains of Rajgopal to the mortuary of the government hospital at Kanakapura and registered a case.
