Beltangady, Nov 12: The body of an unidentified youth was found from the Guripall Cross on Alike road in Ujire village on Sunday November 11. On the face of it, the person seems to have been murdered.
Plastic tape was found to have been wrapped around the face of the youth. It looks as if he was killed somewhere and his body was dumped here. The age of the youth is estimated to be between 30 and 35.
The person was wearing black trousers and grey shirt and no injury marks were found on his body. The police feel that the man was smothered and his body was tossed here by the killers by transporting it in a vehicle.
A local, Anil Prakash D'Souza, found the body on Sunday morning when on morning walk. He found it by the side of the drain. After he passed on this information, police circle inspector here, Sandesh P G, along with sub-inspector, Ravi B S and others, scrutinized the spot. The police failed to get anything on the body which could help in his identification. In all likelihood, those who killed him seem to have taken away his purse, cellphone and other things.
