Bengaluru, Nov 11: It is learnt that brothers H D Kumaraswamy, chief minister of Karnataka and H D Revanna, PWD minister are having some differences over the starting date of the winter session that will be held at Belagavi.
It is gathered that CM Kumaraswamy had decided to hold the winter session from December 3 to 15 and has sent a temporary timetable to the speaker of the legislative assembly Ramesh Kumar and chairman of the legislative council Basavaraj respectively. However, it is learnt that H D Revanna has advised starting the winter session on December 5, which is considered as auspicious instead of December 3. So the officials of the legislature are in a confusion now as they do not have any clear-cut guidance on the subject.
CM Kumaraswamy has decided to hold the winter session of legislative assembly and council for at least 10 days as the coalition government is accused of being anti-north Karnataka and the reduction in days will not augur well for the government. However, the chief minister Kumaraswamy is also in a dilemma as he cannot refuse the advice of Revanna of starting the session on an auspicious day as per the Hindu calendar.
In the midst of this confusion, Ramesh Kumar, speaker of the legislative assembly and Basavaraj Horatti, chairman of the legislative council have decided to hold a preparatory meeting on November 19 for holding the winter session at Belagavi.
