Kundapur: Female leopard creating fear among people trapped

Kundapur, Nov 10: A female leopard that created panic among the locals since the last few months was trapped in a cage at Kakkeri, Kalavara here on late hours of Friday, November 9.

The leopard had made an appearance in the barren land near Varahi dam. The forest department officials who were informed had kept a cage in the land belonging Chandrashekar Hegde and tied a dog as bait last week, waiting for the leopard to be trapped.

Forest officials rushed to the spot soon after the leopard was caught. The officials said that the female leopard was about five years old and was taken to wild animal zone and released there. They said that the cage will be kept if people complain again regarding the movement of the leopard.



ACF Lohith, RFO Prabhaker Kulal, assistant forest officer Uday, forest guards Shanker Kharvi, Somashekar, Basavaraj and department vehicle driver Ashok took part in the operation under guidance from DFO Prabhakaran.
