Bengaluru, Nov 10: The sessions court here, which took up the hearing into the anticipatory bail application moved by former minister, Gali Janardhan Reddy on Friday November 9, adjourned it to November 12.

This has effectively closed doors on Reddy's hopes of getting bail before Monday. As he has been served with the court notice ordering him to present himself before the investigation officers of City Central Branch (CCB), police before Sunday, there is curiosity about his next move.

Before the hearing was adjourned, advocate for Janardhan Reddy withdrew the interim bail application moved on his behalf. Advocate C H Hanumantharayana had filed interim bail through an application made in the sessions court. After the judge orally expressed the opinion that Reddy did not seem to be facing the threat of getting arrested, the advocate withdrew this application.

The very aim of moving the anticipatory bail application in the court was to a evade arrest by the CCB. The adjournment of the case has put the former minister in a piquant position now. As soon as advocate for Reddy filed anticipatory bail application, CCB too filed objections for the same. They have urged the court not to grant bail to Reddy as they said Janardhan Reddy is directly involved with this fraud.

Reddy approaches high court

In the meantime, Janardhan Reddy approached high court on Friday itself, seeking to quash the complaint filed against him, and to replace the investigating officers. Advocate, Chandrashekhar, who filed two separate applications in the high court on Friday, sought to change investigating officers of CCB, deputy commissioner of police, Girish, and assistant commissioner of police, Venkatesh Prasanna, duly claiming that these two officers were unnecessarily trying to frame Reddy in the case.

In the writ petition seeking to replace the investigating officers, state government, city police commissioner, T Sunil Kumar, and CCB additional commissioner, Alok Kumar, have been named as defendants. Reddy says that the investigating officers are having prejudice against him and that the officers have been leaking all information about development in the investigation to the media. He said that the police had arrested people unconnected with the case and tortured them. "Reddy is not facing any complaint in this case, and he is not a partner in Ambidant Company. The DJ Halli station police had filed a case on May 29 against Ambidant Company fraud, and now the police, driven by malicious intentions, are trying to frame Reddy by including his name in the case," the petition explains.

Reddy has argued that in the case of Brijesh Reddy, CCB police have just served notice seeking his presence, whereas in the case of himself, they are trying to arrest him directly without serving notice. He has pointed out that several first information reports have been filed about the Ambidant fraud, and main accused in the case have already secured bail. Therefore he has argued that the investigating officers, who are under political pressure, should be changed immediately.
