Sharjah, Nov 7: Michael D’Souza, well known Mangalurean NRI entrepreneur from Dubai has been chosen for prestigious Karnataka Sangha Mayura Award 2018. The title named 'Mayura Vishwamanya Kannadiga' will be presented on November 16 during 16th anniversary of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah.
The colourful event will be held at Indian Association Sharjah auditorium at 4 pm.
Veteran Kannada actor Ananth Nag will grace the event as chief guest. Five-hour long programme will consist of loads of music, dance and comedy events.
Michael D’Souza, hailing from Puttur, is known for his philanthropic work worldwide. He always keeps a low profile and shies away from media glare. Michael D’Souza has helped numerous poor students for their education and health. He has also helped destitute and downtrodden.
Currently, Managing Director of Ivory Grand Group of Hotels in Dubai, Michael had created history in Mangaluru when he initiated Rs 25 Crore 'Educare' Trust to help the students from all walks of life. Thousands of students have already benefited from the trust and every year hundreds of students approach the trust to pursue higher education.
Michael is instrumental in promoting Kannada, Tulu, Konkani languages, culture in UAE and other parts of the world. Through his generous and charitable causes, hundreds of cultural programmes have been hosted in Gulf, India and other parts of the world.
As a visionary, Michael is also a source of guidance for young entrepreneurs to start new ventures and also for those who are already in the business.
Soft-spoken and humble personality Michael D’Souza now spends most of his time on nurturing young entrepreneurs, guiding community institutions and leaders to take-up new challenges and create a community-friendly environment through his charitable work.
Michael, married to Flavia D’Souza, has two daughters and a son, currently residing in Dubai.
