Udupi, Nov 4: The auditions of ‘Voice of Udupi season-6’, which were held on Saturday, November 3, at Ninada Musical Instruments Studio, received great response.
The singing reality show is presented by Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidara Okkoota, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
Artist and advocate Nagraj inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp, while Radhakrishna Bhat, president, Sangeetha Kalavidhara Okkoota, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, Bhaskar Basrur, former president, Sangeetha Kalavidhara Okkoota, Udupi Unit, Sharath Uchila and others were present.
Addressing the gathering, Nagraj said, “Music will influence our lives positively. Music gives relief to our life which full of pressure all the time. This association should be promoted extensively. Let the public get more benefits from this okkoota. I wish all of you the very best.”
Versatile singer B Krishna Karanth and keyboard player Baskar Basrur were the judges.
B K Karanth is a popular singer whose ‘Tuluva Mallige’ and ‘Tuluva Siri’ audio cassette were released in 1986. He is a theatre artiste as well as a film playback singer.
Baskar Basrur is a keyboard player who has worked in many TV shows.
Contestants of all age groups participated enthusiastically in the audition round and tried to impress the judges.
Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidara Okkoota (R) Dakshina Kannada and Udupi is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year. It is a group of 400 professional musicians and singers. The okkoota provides financial assistance for poor students every year through 'Vidya Nidhi' scheme. It also extends medical help to the okkoota members and also engages in pro-social activities.
