Shivamogga, Nov 3: A case stands filed against Karnataka chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy, on the allegation of promising to sanction projects during the electioneering for the Lok Sabha bypoll here.

The case was registered after viewing the video clip of the speech delivered by Kumaraswamy when seeking votes for the coalition candidate in the bypoll at the public election campaign meeting held on October 28 at Indira Gandhi stadium, Shiralakoppa in the district.

The CM had spoken about providing lift irrigation facility, providing irrigation facilities etc to Anavatti, Udugani, Talagunda, Hosur revenue divisions, and extending interest free loans to street vendors through mobile banking.

Mithun Kumar of video surveillance team of Udugani revenue division had submitted the video clip to K Manjappa. As election code of conduct was found to have been violated, a report was submitted to the nodal officer. Shikaripura assistant election officer had advised the concerned to take suitable action.
