Mangaluru, Nov 2: The body of a woman from Kilpady near Mulky in the taluk, who had gone missing since Wednesday night, was found in an abandoned well near her home on Thursday November 1. Her children have filed a complaint, alleging that this happens to be a case of murder, duly naming a local as the accused.
Mortal remains of Radha Raju Kunder (47) were found from the well in the compound of Janardhan near her home. In a complaint filed in Mulky police station, family members of Radha have accused Mohan, a neighbour, of trying to rape Radha, killing her, and dumping her body into the well. The complainants said that Mohan used to be friendly with Radha's family, and expressed suspicion that he would have committed this heinous act on account of some devious aim.
Radha Kunder was married, and her husband, Raju, is employed at Bengaluru. She had arranged for the baby shower of her eldest daughter ten days back, before sending her to the home of her husband. Her other daughter used to live with Radha.
The family members say that Radha had left for Mulky to take a copy of her daughter's bio-data on Wednesday evening, but did not come back even late in the night. Thereafter, a complaint was made in Mulky police station. On Thursday morning, a relative of the deceased woman, Praveen, with help from locals, launched a search operation. The searchers found the body of Radha floating in a well without a compound wall on the road leading to Kilpady from Mulky via Gerukatte.
The police arrived on the spot, brought the body out with help from locals, and took it to the community health centre for post-mortem. Zilla panchayat member, Vinod Bollur, taluk panchayat member, Sharat Kubevoor, Padupanambur panchayat president, Mohandas and other locals helped in bringing the body out of the well.
Mulky station police inspector, Ananthapadmanabha, who has registered a case, is leading a team that has taken up investigation into this death.
