Mangalore, Nov 13: 'Janapada Nudi-Dudi,' a programme comprising of the rich cultural heritage of the Tulunadu, being organized by Mangalore Akashavani, will be staged at T V Raman Pai Convention Hall here on Friday November 14 at 6 pm. The programme aims at providing the citizens of the city an introduction to the rich and diverse folk dance forms of the region.

The children of Chetana Bala Vikasa Kendra will present 'Hakkigalige Rekke Bantu' and later, the programme 'Janapada Nudi-Dudi' comprising of dances of the rural farmers, will be presented.

The variety of folk dance like Pookare, Karungolu, Kangeelu, Holi and Dudi Kunita dance forms will be presented on the occasion.  Pookare is a dance form in which people worship the earth God before starting agricultural operations. Karungolu is an observation in which Mari, the evil of the village, is driven out. Kangeelu is almost like the Kangeelu. Holi Kunita is a dance form predominantly inherited by the Kudubi community. Dudi Kunita is a kind of folk dance of Mugeri and Mansa community people who reside in Bantwal, Puttur, Sullia, Beltangady, Kasargod etc.

The speciality of the programme lies in the fact that the people drawn from various villages and belonging to the respective communities which traditionally do these dance forms, will be performing these dances.
