Mangaluru: Love for Kannada should be continuous - U T Khader at Rajyotsava celebration

Mangaluru, Nov 1: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister U T Khader hoisted the flag and inspected guard of honour at the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration organized by the district administration at Nehru Maidan here on Thursday, November 1.

Recollecting rich contribution made to Kannada language by generations of writers, activists, poets etc, he said, "Kannada is the only language which has bagged 8 Jnana Peetha awards. I salute all great personalities who brought these awards to our Kannada soil. They are teh treasure of our language and culture. At the same time we should introspect how much we are passionate about our language and the state. Has our love for language only limited for a day? It should not be like that. It should be continuous,"





"Karnataka Vidya Vardhaka Sangha is the first association which raised voice for Kannada. R H Deshpande was the founder of this association. Later Aloor Venkata Raya joined this association and strengthened the movement. After that many associations were born all over Karnataka and carried the Kannada slogan. We should always remember this and teach our next generation," he added.

The minister made special mention about projects of the state government like irrigation, road, housing which are underway in district. He highlighted about the funds sanctioned by state government for the development fishermen community, tourism and flood effected Sullia and surrounding areas. He also briefed about various government schemes focused on students and poor.

Cultural activities were exhibited by school children.

Nalin Kumar, MP, Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, Meenakshi Shanthigodu, president, D K Zilla Panchayat and other representatives and governmental officials were present.

    I love Kannada, But Tulu is in my Blood.

    I need respect and recognition for Tulu which is older than Malayalam.

    Your constituency Ullala is in Tulunad, place of Rani Abbakka.

    Please work Towards making Tulu official language.

    we born in tulunadu, its our identity, tuluva. (in english manglorean.) like kodava in kodagu,

    It is absolutely wrong to term a tuluva as kannadiga. We are not kannadiga we are tuluvas by birth. Please don't call yourself as kannadiga when you belong to Mangalore. Love for Tulu. Jai Tulunadu

    i think kannada rajyaustava is govt sponsored program in Tulunad . there is no celebration from people. happy kannada rajyaustava to all kannadiga . its proud to be tuluva instead of kannadiga .

    Bearys, konkanis speak good Kannada in Mangala Uru, Udupi.....even Urdu speaking Muslims' Kannada is good. Nice to hear one language being used by many religions....
