Ramanagara , Nov 1: Karnataka assembly by-election has taken an unforeseen twist. BJP candidate of Ramanagara legislative assembly constituency, L Chandrashekar, has withdrawn from the contest and has expressed his anger against the leaders of the state BJP.
Speaking to reporters, Chandrashekar said, "Though I am the candidate of the BJP party, no leaders of the party have come to campaign in favour of me. I took part in the contest in order to develop the constituency of Ramanagara. For the well being of the people of Ramanagara, I had joined BJP,”
“The leaders of state BJP said that ‘We will bear the expenses of the election. You be the candidate of our party. All the leaders of BJP will campaign in favour of you.’ However, they are not receiving my call when I tried to contact them. So I came to know that they are neglecting me. That is why I have come out of BJP and joined Congress," he added.
L Chandrashekar joined Congress in the presence of MP D K Suresh. With the withdrawal of BJP candidate, the victory of alliance candidate Anita Kumaraswamy is almost certain. It is also said that the withdrawal of Chandrashekar from the contention may affect the election outcome of other constituencies also for which the by-elections are being held in the state.
