Udupi, Nov 13: In a strong rebuttal of the state BJP president D V Sadanand Gowda that the Margaret Alva episode has laid bare the immoral practices prevalent in the Congress, district Congress Committee general secretary B Narasimha Murthy through a statement has said that the Congress party is not inclined to take moral lessons from a party which offered inducements to legislators elected on other party tickets, to join it.
The BJP government has elevated people who are not even people’s representatives, to the posts of ministers, thus corrupting the political system. The people will deliver their verdict as to who is right on this issue, in the ensuing by-poll, he added.
"The BJP need not bother about the statement made by Congress leader Margaret Alva that the party tickets were sold in the previous election. Congress party is backed by a history of over a hundred years and the party leaders will find out the truth and also what is good for the party, by undertaking suitable measures," he commented.
Contributing funds by the candidates and the party well-wishers to the coffers of the party for meeting electoral expenditure is not a new development. The BJP is not free from this practice. The statement issued by the BJP president shows his political ignorance, Murthy said, on behalf of the district Congress.
