Mangalore, Nov 13: A diabetes information camp will be conducted by the A J Hospital and Research Centre in the city at the conference hall of the Hospital on Friday November 14 at 9.30 am.
India has been identified globally as the capital of diabetes. One person out of every five citizens in the country suffer from diabetes. Both diabetes and heart problems associated with the disease, are spreading their grip in the country every day. Hence, with the purpose of spreading awareness among the people, the programme has been chalked out, said Dr Ganesh H, speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday November 11 in the city.
The camp will educate the participants about the ways and means through which the disease can be controlled, as diabetes has the potential to lead to various other complications like amputation of the legs, heart attack, blindness etc., he said.
Information on various problems faced by the diabetic patients, food control and foot care tips will given at the camp. Test to measure glucose level in the blood and urine besides electrocardiogram (ECG) test will be conducted at the camp for the participants free of cost, he added.
Dr Prashant Marla, medical director, A J Hospital and Shivaprasad Shetty, public relation officer, were present at the press conference.
