Byndoor, Oct 28: "Congress party is lauded for their pro-people programmes like providing land to the tiller through the land reformation act, providing rights to the landless people who were living on government land, opportunity of professional education to poor people of all castes and sections of society, education and reservation in jobs to Dalits and backward classes of society, housing schemes, uplifting of scheduled caste and tribes through special schemes. The present government at the centre and the former BJP government of Karnataka have not done a single work that is good for the society," said former chief minister Veerappa Moily.
Moily was speaking at the press conference organized on Saturday, October 27 here.
Moily further said, "The victory of candidates of Congress alliance, in the bye elections that are going to be held in five states, is definite. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the grand alliance of all opposition parties will win with huge margin. Narendra Modi has assured to bring back the black money that was stashed abroad. Instead of this being materialized, more black money has gone out of the country to overseas destinations. The financial standing committee of the parliament of which I am the president has submitted three reports to the government in this regard. However, it is not implemented."
"The earlier Congress government at the center led by Manmohan Singh, former Congress government of Karnataka led by Siddaramaiah and the present coalition government led by H D Kumaraswamy have waived the loan of farmers. So far 36,000 farmers have committed suicide. Modi waived Rs 1.24 thousand crores of lots of industrialists instead of waiving the loans of farmers. Modi also promised to bring out black money through demonetization, stoppage of corruption and elimination of terrorism. None of these promises have taken place. 125 people, who waited in queue, outside the banks, during the demonetization died of exhaustion. More than 40% labourers of unorganized sector lost their jobs. This is the gift of four and a half years of Modi administration," ridiculed Moily.
Fisheries minister Venkatrao Nadagowda, former minister Ramanath Rai, former MLAs K Gopal Poojary, Gopal Bhandary, MLC S L Bhoje Gowda, Lok Sabha candidate for Shivamogga constituency, Madhu Bangarappa and leader of Congress G A Bawa were present at the press conference.
