Udupi, Oct 28: As by-election will be held in Byndoor and Kundapur on November 3, the district administration as a precautionary measure has announced prohibitory orders 48 hours before the conclusion of elections.

The orders will be in force from November 1, 6 pm to November 3, 8 pm. The orders were issued by deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis.

Except people coming to voting booths for casting their votes, more than five people may not gather or indulge in unlawful activities during the period.

Organizations, political parties or religious leaders should not go in procession or indulge in protests.

Deadly weapons such as arms, sticks, swords, knife, guns or any weapons or such weapons that can injure the body or deadly explosives should not be carried.

Stones, items that are used for throwing or moving arms may not be collected or manufactured.

Police officials have the authority to seize banned substances or weapons. More than four people may not stand together and walk about. Giving speeches, speaking in provocative manner, fixing banners or flex are banned.

As per election commission clarification, candidate is permitted to visit houses and campaign 48 hours before elections. However the people in the group should not exceed ten.

“The orders do not apply to programmes or meetings by the government. It also does not include use of lathi or guns by police on duty,” stated the deputy commissioner.
