Udupi, Oct 27: Kallianpur deanery level YCS convention 'Yuva Sangam - 2018' was recently held at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur near here.
The programme began with a thanksgiving mass at Milagres Cathedral followed by the inauguration of Yuva Sangam – 2018 by Fr Kiran Nazareth SDB, director of Shirva deanery youth and director of Don Bosco Youth Center, Shirva.
After the inaugural ceremony, a career guidance session on the topic, 'Tips for Better Career' was organized. The session wound up prior to the lunch break.
The cultural programme was organized in the afternoon with dance and skit competitions. Nine YCS units comprising of more than 140 participants in the deanery participated in both the sessions.
The Valedictory programme of the convention was held after the cultural programme. Fr Dr Leslie D’Souza, parish priest of Mount Rosary Church and also director of ICYM Kallianpur deanery was chief guest. Addressing the YCS members Fr Dr Leslie said that nowadays youth being the active, energetic, creative and enthusiastic part of modern society play an important role in solving every problem in life. It is easier for young people to communicate, to share their ideas openly and to accept new things. We have always been fascinated by future dreams. Dreams with no evil and hatred are better. Youth should take on the responsibility to be good human beings and should be capable for progress in life.
Fr Dr Lawrence C D’Souza rector of Milagres Cathedral in his message appreciated the organizers for their marvelous arrangements, beautiful and meaningful convention. He also appreciated the YCS members for their marvelous show of talents through the dance and skit.
Earlier, Godwin Mascarenhas president of Kallianpur deanery YCS welcomed the gathering. Kallianpur deanery YCS director Fr Canute Noronha, assitant parish priest of Milagres Cathedral extended his gratitude to all concerned toward the successful programmes. Kallianpur deanery YCS doordinator Suja D’Souza, Diana Saldhana, Jane Mendonca and Deacon Jithesh Castalino, priests of the ward and officials of YCS units and deanery were present on the dais.
Suja D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks. The guests on the dais distributed prizes to the winners of the dance and skit competitions.
