Mangalore, Nov 10: A multi-linguistic poets' conference organized by Mangalore Institute of Fashion Technology (MIFT) and Kalkura Foundation was held at MIFT college auditorium in Kankanady by-pass road here on Sunday November 9.
Speaking on the occasion after inaugurating the conference, humourist Bhuvaneshwari Hegde said that poems are necessary for the refreshing and invigoration of mental health and also for the creation of a healthy society.
"Information technology has been spoiling the students. Information technology should not stop at supplying information to the students. In addition to providing moderated information, the educators must try to inculcate human values in the students through literature. The literature, information and poems can become tools for affective communication and give rise to harmonious living, she opined.
Former state president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punaroor presided over the function.
President of district Kannada Sahitya Parishat Pradip Kumar Kalkura, chief editor of 'Yugapurusha' magazine Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, president of Karavali Sahitya Vedike Srinivas Prabhu, MIFT founder MG Hegde, Prakash Kadri and others were present.
Meghana recited the invocation. Sudha Nagesh compered the programme. Around 30 poets including Dombayya, Raghu Idkidu and Shilpa presented their poems at the conference.
