Mumbai, Nov 10: ‘Kebi Pittale’, a Tulu play was staged by Devdas Kapikad and his ‘Cha Parka’ troupe at Billava Bhavan, Santa Cruz (east), on Saturday November 8. The programme was presided over by Billava association vice-president Y Nagesh.
Nityanand D Kotian, honorary chief secretary, Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti, was the chief guest while Rama Guruswamy, entrepreneur Krishna Suvarna, and Rama Kanchan, were the guests of honour.
Vidhwan Vishwanath Bhat Kairabettu, Nationalist Congress Party youth leader Kalattoor Vishwanath Shetty, Association honorary treasurer Bhaskar V Bangera, and women’s wing executive vice-president S Poojary were also present on the dais.
Veteran litterateur Dr Sunita M Shetty, Devdas Kapikad, and comedian Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, were felicitated on the occasion. Dr Shetty, acknowledging the felicitations, said that although Tulu plays are based on humour, there ought to be more use of the language avoiding words of English and Kannada. It would bring happiness to Tulu enthusiasts, she said.
Balaji Kalabimani troupe convener Durgesh Shetty welcomed the gathering. Karnoor Mohan Rai compered the programme. Kalabimani troupe Prasad Shetty, Anand Poojary, Durgesh Shetty, and Pushparaj Suvarna, were also present.
