Udupi, Nov 10: In tune with the directions issued by the Election Commission of India, making voter identity cards mandatory for the next election, list of voters who possess voter identity cards is being prepared. Revision of this list will be conducted from Monday November 10 to 24, a release from the office of the deputy commissioner here said.
From November 10 onwards, list of voters will be displayed at all the polling booths, gram panchayats and taluk offices. If there are any deficiencies in the list, necessary revision would be made during this period. The voters have to use specific forms for making changes in the list. These forms can be obtained from the polling booths and duly filled in forms can be delivered again at the same booths.
The list of voters is being published in gram panchayats and the taluk offices. However, application for revision should be submitted to the officials present at the polling booths. Along with the applications, one of the documents, that is, ration card, passport, telephone bills, electric bill, driving licence, electoral identity card, birth certificate towards age confirmation, needs to be submitted.
Those attaining 18 years of age as on January 1, 2009 may submit their application for inclusion in the electoral rolls, supported by documents, at the respective polling booths.
