Udupi, Nov 10: A blood donation camp was held at the district hospital here on Sunday November 9, jointly organized by Kundapur Range Forest Guards’ Association and the blood bank of the district hospital.
Deputy commissioner Hemalata P, after inaugurating the blood donation camp, said that Udupi district bagged the first place for the third consecutive year, for organizing the most such camps in the state. The voluntary and social organizations in the district are conducting blood donation camps very often in the district and the forest department employees have also proved its social commitment by organizing the camp.
M Yogishwar, president, forest guards’ association, presided over the programme. Kundapur Range deputy conservator of forests, O Palayya, and district surgeon Dr Dayanand Nayak, were the chief guests of the occasion.
Dr Sharat Kumar explained the significance of blood donation. Association chief secretary Madhusudan, compered the programme. Association vice-president K Bhaskar, proposed the vote of thanks.
The association organized the blood donation camp for the ninth consecutive year to mark Forest Martyrs’ Day on Monday November 10.
