Mangaluru, Oct 18: As many as 55 boards were seized and notices were issued to the building owners by city traffic police on Wednesday, October 18, as they initiated a drive against ‘No parking boards’ placed in front of commercial complexes and apartments in the city.
People in the city have been experiencing problems related to vehicle parking as building owners put up ‘no parking’ boards in front of shops, commercial complexes and apartments. Acting on repeated complaints in the weekly phone-in programme, and following instructions from the police commissioner, the boards were removed by the police.
DCP (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth, police personnel led by ACP Manjunath Shetty carried out the drive at Hampankatte, Clock Tower, Navabharath Circle, Bejai, Falnir and at Mallikatte. All the boards were seized by the police.
DCP Uma Prashanth said that notices were served to all building owners who placed the boards. “They were asked not to place the boards and warned of strict action in case if they replace the boards,” she said.
