Dasara celebrations at Mangaluru airport end on a colourful note

Mangaluru, Oct 17: The three-day Dasara celebration organised at Mangaluru International Airport came to a colourful end with cultural programmes from students of Srinivas Aviation Management College and staff of various airlines on Wednesday, October 17.

Airport director V V Rao, Kalyanmayee (Mangaluru Unit) president Sujana Rao, deputy general manager Abraham Koshi took part in the grand valedictory.

The cultural event started with the traditional tiger dance, fusion dances and singing performances by the students of Srinivas College. The young talents entertained the passengers, staff and the people who arrived at the airport to drop and receive their near ones.

The staff of Indigo Airlines, Jet Airways and various departments of airport put up stunning performances. Tiger Dance, Yakshagana, North Indian fusion dances were the highlights of the event.

The staff, passengers also got into the Dasara mood and joined the tiger dancers.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Prakash Pai, who arrived from Dubai said, “I never expected this fiesta and it was a pleasant surprise for me. Seeing the tiger dance and cultural activities, I forgot my travel fatigue. The celebrations at the airport have put me into a festive mood, even before I entered the city,” he said.

Jabbar who arrived to airport to drop his son said, “My son is going abroad for the first time and will return only after a year. We were feeling emotional but the Dasara celebrations have changed our mood. He is already inside the airport, but we are still here outside and enjoying the cultural programmes.”

    This is how we should involve ourselves in encouraging and participating in our traditions. We should enjoy our life. We should look after our aged parents. We should vote and take part in democracy of our mother land. We should pay tax and part of our developing country.

    I thank the Airport authority, various travel companies and agents. I thank all those who participated and enjoyed the event.

    Let this trend continue. Let us celebrate every festival in a unique way and show that the Mangaloreans are really smart and are unique in their thought process. Let us set an example for others by living in harmony and enjoying every festival and every moment for LIFE is a journey and we all are passersby.
