Bengaluru, Oct 12: Congress party president Rahul Gandhi will hold an interaction with former HAL employees in the city on the Bengaluru-based PSU’s contributions on Saturday.
The Congress party has levelled accusations against the NDA government of violating the defence procurement procedure and bypassing the interests of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The interaction meeting would be held near Minsk Square in the Cubbon Park for over an hour (3.30 pm to 5 pm), sources in the Congress said.
Gandhi would make initial remarks on HAL contributions to the nation and its capacity to manufacture defence aircraft as per the requirement of the nation.
KPCC Vice-president B L Shankar told the media that the BJP leaders have been questioning capability of the HAL in manufacturing Rafale fighter aircraft and Gandhi would provide fitting replies to all those charges made against the PSU during the interaction.
However, HAL employees’ union general secretary Suryadevara Chandra Shekhar has confirmed the interaction programme between Gandhi and the employees' union of HAL stands cancelled.
The management has also issued a circular cautioning against any overt political engagement under the employees' code of conduct.
