Mangalore, Nov 7: Vishwa Hindu Parishat leader M B Puranik informed in a press conference here on Thursday November 5, that a protest programme will be held under the aegis of Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati Homage Committee on Friday November 7, demanding the arrest of those who murdered Lakshmananda Saraswati Swamiji and his associates.
Instead of putting those who murdered the Swamiji and those who conspired to finish him off behind the bars, efforts are being made to mislead the of the investigations. Even though it is clear that fundamentalist Christians murdered Lakshmanandaji who was blocking their plans of forcible conversions, efforts are being made to place the blame for the murder on the naxals, he explained.
Puranik took exception to the way in which the media internationalised the minor incidents of breaking some glasses of Christian religious centres in and around the city. "At the instance of the foreigners, English dailies and national television channels glorified the Mangalore disturbances," he stated.
"The protest programme will commence at 10 am in front of the office of the deputy commissioner here. During the protest, we will, apart from demanding for the arrest of the Swamiji, also urge for bringing a national level legislation, banning religious conversions," Puranik explained.
Committee president Ramesh S, general secretary Balakrishna Sharma, Manohar Tulajaram and H K Purushotham were present at the press conference.
