Mangalore, Nov 6:  A rural sports meet, 'Tulunad-da Gobbulu' will be jointly organized by the Mangalore University, Dakshina Kannada district Rural Sports Association and PU education department,  at the Urwa play ground here on November 15.

The sports meet for the year 2008-09 will be inaugurated by the district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar at 10 am. Joint commissioner of City Corporation Ajit Kumar Hegde will preside over the occasion, said the honorary president of the Sports Association Sai Prem, speaking at a press conference held on Wednesday November 5.

Focus will be on various village-based games like tug-of-war and lagori at the meet, to ensure that these games, which are slinking into the oblivion, are rejuvenated.

MLA Yogeesh Bhat will preside over the concluding ceremony to be held at 4 pm that day.

Pravinkumar Rai Kukkuvalli and other office-bearers were present at the press conference.
