Mangalore, Oct 10: "All 60 wards coming under Mangaluru City Corporation will soon get LED street lights," said Mayor Bhasker Moily here on Wednesday, October 10.
Speaking during the inaugural programme of the new road for Kankanady B, Capitanio and Hosamane Kantappa ward, he said, “The 60 wards which come under Mangaluru City Corporation will get LED street lights soon. All the interior roads in each ward will be concretized soon as there are many proposals in council meeting to develop the wards and the city.
“Every year, the corporation gets new memorandums for new roads. People are migrating in large numbers from villages to city. Hence there is a huge demand by the families who want to live in a new place. It is the duty of the government and representatives to fulfill their demand. Mangaluru City Corporation is more concerned about roads, street lights, drinking water and drainage system. In upcoming days the city and surrounding wards will see more roads and related basic infrastructure."
In his presidential speech Praveen Chandra Alva said, “In a short period, construction works of the new road has been completed. It shows the commitment of the corporation towards the citizens of the ward. This 100 meter road gives a new connectivity to Ujjodi area. In the coming years we will try to expand it till Mahalingeshwara temple.”
Gk Bhat, Prashanth Kumar, Prabhakar Sriyan, Bhaskar Hosamane, Chandrahasa Rai, Ivan, Udaya Kumar, Devendra and others were present.
