Mangalore, Nov 5: JD (S) leader and ex-minister Amarnath Shetty said that his party is prepared to enter into a tie-up with the BJP for the Mulky Town Panchayat election slated for November 30. "We are open to strike an understanding through mutual discussions," he declared.
"The JD (S) has strong presence in Mulky and it has enough capable candidates to be fielded from all the 17 wards. In the previous election, we gave a good fight to the Congress and secured the second position with a slender margin," he recollected.
"We are prepared for a pre-poll alliance with the BJP, on the lines of Moodbidri municipal election. We can talk and arrive at conditions under which the seat-sharing has to be worked out. If no district level leaders of the BJP come forward for a dialogue on this issue, the JD (S) will fight on its own," Shetty explained.
Because of the existing anti-incumbency wave against the ruling Congress in the town panchayat, people are gearing up to bring JD (S) to power and the party will field able candidates, he added.
