Karkala, Nov 5: The Karkala police arrested a thief who was in the habit of stealing motor bikes from various places and selling them off by creating fake documents. The thief has been identified as Latif, a resident of Bantwal Mogerabettu.
When the policemen belonging to the Karkala town police station were checking vehicles near the Attur Church Cross on Monday November 3, a motor bike rider did not stop his vehicle, even when he was signaled to do so. This act aroused the suspicion of the policemen, who chased him in the jeep and succeeded in intercepting him at Gundyadka Nisarga Hostel.
It was found that the bike rider did not possess any documents of the bike. During intensive interrogation, Latif confessed to his crime. The policemen have taken into custody five motor bikes stolen by him. It is learnt, that Latif had been jailed for three years in a double-murder case.
