Puttur, Oct 6: The additional chief judicial magistrate's court here has served warrants on Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Bonantaya Shivashankar Bhat, relating to the suicide by Shyam Prasad Shastry. It also issued summons to Sri Raghaveshwara Bharatiteertha Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapur Math. This was done on the basis of final charge sheet filed in the case by criminal investigation department.
The charge sheet has identified the above persons as accused in a case in which Shyam Prasad Shastry had turned a gun towards himself and committed suicide. The court has fixed the next date of hearing as October 31, and asked the accused to be present for the hearing.
Shyam Prasad Shastry was the brother of Diwakar Shastry, husband of Premalata Shastry, who had filed rape case against Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji. Shyam Prasad had killed himself at 1.30 pm on August 31, 2014. On the basis of complaint filed by Shyam Prasad's wife that her husband ended his life due to pressure exerted on him on certain issues, the town police had taken up investigation. The investigation was later transferred to criminal investigation department, which filed final charge sheet in the case on September 26 this year.
Sri Raghaveshwara and two others named above have been accused of abetting the above suicide. On the basis of the conclusion arrived at by criminal investigation department, the court has served summons and warrants to them.
