New Delhi, Oct 1 (IT): There is bad news for the common people. After the daily increase in prices of petrol and diesel, people now have to worry about cooking gas.
The price of non-subsidised LPG cylinder in Delhi has been increased by Rs 59 per cylinder and that of subsidised ones by Rs 2.89. The increased rates became effective from 12 am on Monday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Indian Oil Corporation said the price of non-subsidised LPG cylinders in Delhi is being increased by Rs 59 per cylinder. Meanwhile, the price of subsidised LPG cylinder has been increased from Rs 499.51 to Rs 502.40 (a hike of Rs 2.89).
IOC said the prices have been increased "mainly due to change in international price and foreign exchange fluctuations". It attributed the hike in subsided LPG cylinders to the Goods and Services Tax.
The subsidy transfer in customers' bank account has been increased to Rs 376.60 per cylinder as against Rs 320.49 per cylinder at present. "Thus the domestic subsidised LPG customer is protected against the increase in prices of LPG," the statement said.
Similarly, the price of piped natural gas (PNG) in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad has also been increased by Rs 1.50 per scm (Standard Cubic Meter).
CNG becomes dearer by Rs 1.95
Meanwhile, Indraprastha Gas Limited has also raised the price of CNG by Rs 1.95 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.
"The new consumer price of Rs 44.30 per kg in Delhi and Rs 51.25 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad will be effective from midnight of September 30 and October 1," IGL said in a statement.
