Mangaluru, Sep 29: District BJP observed surgical strike day, here at Kadri war memorial on Saturday, September 29, and commemorated the cross border operation that India had carried out against terror camps in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik said, “Our country has witnessed four wars where major activities took place. During this warfare, several sacrificed their lives which we should remember the supreme sacrifice made by our soldiers.”
“Two years ago, surgical strike took place where our army attacked militant launch pads. Why this surgical strike? Indian army had to give strong message to our opponent after the attack at Pathankot and Uri. We have been always in defensive side and shown the soft corner, but somewhere down the line we had to show that we are capable to enter their boundary and execute the plan. There were no casualties from our side,” he said.
“It’s really sad that lance naik Sandeep Singh who was part of surgical strike mission succumbed to injuries recently and we should remember him for his sacrifice,” Capt Ganesh Karnik added.
Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, District BJP Mahila Morcha president Pooja Pai, Corporator Roopa D Bangera, Yogish Bhat, Ravi Shankar Mijar, Capt Adyanthaya, Sharath Bhandary and others were present.
