Udupi: Mother tries to kill self, children by feeding poison

Udupi, Sep 28: Akshata, a resident of Pelatturu Guddeangadi, under Kanajaru village limits, near Hiriyadka here tried to commit suicide along with her kids on Wednesday September 26.

Akshata was living with her two kids Truptin (6) and Diyan (1). On the afternoon of Wednesday she had been to the market with Diyan and on the way back brought Truptin also home. Around 6 pm in the evening, Shobha Nayak, a neighbour heard a loud voice and on observing saw Akshata who was holding a bottle of poison and yelling "I have consumed poison. I have given the poison to my children also. I am responsible for my death." The neighbours immediately admitted the mother and children to the Manipal hospital and they are said to be out of danger.

It is learnt that seven years ago Akshata had married Santhosh and they had some issue in their marriage in 2014, which was resolved amicably. At present, there were no issues between the husband and wife. Akshata's husband had left for work to Poona three months ago.

It is not clear why Akshata took this extreme step.

A case is registered in this regard at the Hiriyadka police station.

    parents should check whats her issue.. she might be having depression or any thing she might be suffering within inside.. some husbands just treat wife as a sleeping partner and they do not understand the problems a wife faces after having kids... lots of pressure, duties lot of things which cannot be explained to any one .. there should be someone to support wife when she has little kids...
