Bengaluru, Sep 27: Karnataka deputy chief minister Parameshwar has shown the power of his designation saying that the media is jealous of him for making use of zero traffic facility that he is entitled to.
A statue of field marshal Kariappa was installed near Millers road junction in the city under the aegis of Kodava samaja and BBMP. DCM Parameshwar was invited for its inauguration. He had arrived for the programme through zero traffic.
To a question about zero traffic by reporters, he said that chief minister, elite, governor and home minister in the state are provided zero traffic facility. “Therefore, I am utilising it. The facility is provided because it is necessary. Former home minister had said that he does not want it. That does not mean that I too should refuse it. Media is jealous that I am using it,” he said.
“Field marshal Kariappa has offered tremendous service to the country. His work was immense. Unveiling his statue today is an example for young people. There is a proposal to give Millers junction his name. I will take a decision after holding discussions.”
MP P C Mohan and Mayor Sampath Raj took part in the programme.
Referring to the dissatisfaction of MLAs in Legislative council meeting, he said that nobody has spoken against him, expressed their dissatisfaction or anger in CLC meeting. “I have asked concerned people to come to me and I will get their work done. Reports of displeasure against me are far from truth,” he clarified.
Speaking about BBMP elections, he said that party president has called a meeting in this connection on Wednesday evening. “I will select a candidate and finalize. I do not know who all are in the race,” he said.
