Bengaluru, Sep 26: The Congress legislature party (CLP) meeting held here on Tuesday September 25 exhibited oneness as even disgruntled legislators who had given sleepless nights to party leaders after indicating they would ditch the party, attended it. With this, the speculations which had been rife about the imminent collapse of the coalition government in the state were laid to rest.
The meeting was presided over by former chief minister and leader of the legislature party, Siddaramaiah. All the MLAs including Jarkiholi brothers, Sudhakar, M T B Nagaraj and others who had given rise to tension among the leaders, took part in the meeting. Shivajinagar MLA, Roshan Baig, who is on a pilgrimage to Mecca, was absent.
Siddaramaiah chanted the unity Mantra and asked the legislators and party leaders to remain together at all times. He said that many demands of the MLAs like appointment to corporations and boards, expansion of the ministry etc will be attended to within a few days.
He conveyed to the party leaders the instruction from the party high command to win maximum seats in the coming Lok Sabha election. He urged the party leaders and activists to totally concentrate on the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
"Do not fall to the trap being laid out by the BJP who offer lures. Never take hasty decisions. The party will recognize your contributions and talents, and give you suitable positions at the right time. Do you know what fate awaits you if you cross over to BJP? Please think over clearly," he advised.
It is gathered that at the meeting, several MLAs expressed their resentment at the way chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy, has been functioning. They said that even for getting small things done in their respectively constituencies, they are compelled to wait for hours together for the chief minister to listen to their demands and take a decision.
Some said that the CM treats Congress MLAs with disdain. Bangarpet MLA, Narayana Swamy and others are said to have complained that they are being treated like second class citizens by the CM.
