Mangaluru, Sep 25: The police personnel of Devadanapatti station in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, have registered a case of murder and initiated investigation relating to the recovery of the lifeless body of Mohammed Sameer (35) from Badagulipady near Ganjimutt, Edapadavu here. Sameer had mysteriously gone missing from his residence without leaving any trace.
In the meantime, it is suspected that Sameer's wife, Firdous, and Asif from Karkala who was working as driver at Bengaluru, who is claimed to be her paramour, have fled to a foreign country with five lac rupees in cash and 60 sovereigns of gold after committing this murder. Relatives have charged Firdous of murdering Sameer in connivance with Asif. In this connection, missing cases have been registered about Sameer in Bajpe station, Asif at Bengaluru, and Firdous in Kaup.

Bajpe police inspector, Parashivamurthy, said that the investigation into the case will be conducted by Devadanapatti police station and that the local police will extend full support to them.
Post-mortem of Sameer's body was conducted in Tamil Nadu, and the report was sent to forensic science laboratory. Injury marks were witnessed on the body. As prima facie it appears to be a case of murder, the police said they registered murder case. The body has been handed over to the relatives.
For Firdous, this was her second marriage, as she had divorced her first husband. In the past too, Firdous and Sameer had fought on account of misunderstandings, and police had intervened and struck a truce. The police are now searching for Firdous and her companion.
After Sameer's father complained about his disappearance, the police searched his mobile phone location and found out that he was at Devadanapatti. The Bajpe police contacted the police at Devadanapatti and were given the information about the recovery of Sameer's body. After the relatives went there and identified wrist watch, shoes and other items found on Sameer's body which had been preserved by the police there, the body was exhumed, post-mortem was conducted, and handed over to relatives.
Sameer perhaps was either convinced to accompany Asif or kidnapped from Bengaluru, it is being guessed now. Sameer then seems to have been taken to Tamil Nadu, where he was murdered, his face was defaced with acid to make sure his identity is not established, after which the mortal remains were abandoned near a hillock.
