Udupi, Sep 19: A free camp of information on health and medical checkups was held for drivers at Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara hospital, Kutpadi on September 18. Medical officer Dr Mamatha K V who chaired the programme said that the part of vehicle drivers in our daily life is important. “Their routine work without break requires initiative to maintain health. Therefore, they should make use of the camp,” she said.
Taxi Drivers’ Association Katpadi chief secretary Ramesh Kotian said that such camps are very useful and beneficial for drivers to maintain their health.
Assistant lecturer of the college Dr Prashanth K gave a lecture on back pains and anus that are troubling drivers. Dr Swapna Bhandary gave details on pain in the head, eyes, ears, nose and throat. Dr Vijay B Negaloor said that a person can remain away from illnesses by good food and yoga exercises such as Pranayama. Corporation bank zonal manager Mallikarjun and Kutpadi division manager Sunil gave details of facilities and insurance policies such as Saral plus available in the bank.
Drivers undertook tests for their ailments and received information and treatment. Blood tests and bone density tests were conducted in the camp.
Hospital manager C Srinivas Hegde thanked and assured of holding similar programmes in the future. Hospital medical officers Dr Thejaswi Naik and Rashmi H C compered the programme. Assistant medical officer Dr Deepak S M, Dr Jayakrishna Nayak and Dr Farzana cooperated. Teaching staff, degree and post graduate students, junior doctors and patients were present.
