Udupi, Sep 13: Under the guidance of Udupi deanery, ‘Kutma Fest’ of the year 2018 was organised by the ICYM Moodubelle unit, at St Lawerence PU College Hall, Moodubelle on September 9.
Around 170 youth from nine parishes of the Udupi deanery participated in the event.
The programme was inaugurated by Fr Valerian Mendonca, dean, Udupi deanery, by unfurling a bunch of coconut flowers along with Fr Lawrence Cutinha, assistant parish priest, Moodubelle church and director, ICYM Udupi deanery, Dr Judith Lobo, resource person of the day, Vincent Fernandes, Latha D’Mello, vice-president and secretary of parish pastoral council, Moodubelle, Valerian Noronha and Anita Alva, animators, ICYM Moodubelle, Vilton D'Souza, Fiona D'Souza, president and secretary, ICYM Udupi deanery, Sara D'Souza, secretary, ICYM Udupi diocese and Joswin D’Mello, president, ICYM Moodubelle unit.
In her address, Dr Judith Lobo stressed on the importance of family and prayer. She pointed out the need of family in the upbringing of children and the youth. She also impressed upon the youth the need of family support and guidance in shaping their personality and future.
Fr Valerian Mendonca in his message expressed happiness that the ICYM of Udupi deanery thought of organizing ‘Kutma Fest’ in the wake of nativity feast. He highlighted the importance of Catholic Educational Institutions in inculcating Christian values.
Fr Anil D’Souza, parish priest, Perempalli Church, appreciated the deanery unit members for participating in the programme.
Rosalia and Hazel Martis conducted spot games. Moodubelle unit conducted quiz for the youths.
Fr Alban D'Souza, parish priest, Kalmady Church, Fr Wilson D'Souza, parish priest Kuntalnagar Church, Fr Ronson D'Souza, parish priest, Katpady Church, Fr Rowlin Aranha, assistant parish priest, Udyavar Church, were present for the event.
Edna Menezes introduced the resource person Dr Judith Lobo. Vilton D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Fiona D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks and Carol Quadras compeerd the programme.
The programme came to an end with scrumptious lunch prepared by all the units.
