Mangalore, Oct 26: CPI(M) politburo member K Varadarajan has alleged on Saturday October 25 that the current United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has been deceiving the people of this country.
Addressing media persons here after the party’s two-day state committee meeting he said, that though fuel price was below $67 for a barrel, the government was not ready to reduce the price. He demanded that the price of fuel be reduced.
There is an urgent need for a third alternative in India to protect the interests of people and to fight against terrorism and communalism. In other countries, the ruling party and opposition party sit together to sort out the crisis. But UPA government is taking many decisions on its own without considering other parties in the Parliament, he alleged.
Varadarajan said that Manmohan Singh was not bothered about this country. Instead, he was welcoming capitalists to the nation. Capitalism will lead to the collapse of the cultural base of this country, he warned.
Secretary Board member V J K Nair said that according to the resolution passed during the meeting, the party will organize a month-long ‘Souharda Karnataka Rajyotsava’, in November. Seminars, multi-language poetry sessions, conference, dialogue, and cultural programmes will be held as part of Rajyotsava celebrations, he said.
The party will also organize three rallies with peace messages from Basavakalyan, Karwar, and Bababudangiri, in December. The rallies will conclude at Bangalore on December 22, he informed. The committee meeting also discussed the present political conditions of the state. Madhav B, president, district committee, was also present at the press meet.
