Mangalore, Oct 24: The members of State Bank of India Pensioners Association organized a dharna in front of the city branch of the bank, recently.
Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of State Bank of India Pensioners Association K Rudranna informed the gathering of the determination of the Association to continue with the protests until the bank management and the government agree for the immediate settlement of all the long-pending demands of the pensioners.
He also stated, that the bank pensioners are getting deprived of pension to the extent of 50% of last pay drawn, in addition to other facilities, for which they are eligible.
Several demands of the bank pensioners have been kept pending by the central government. This protest is being held all over the country and about a lac pensioners are participating in it, said the vice president of Association, Venkatesh Murty.
Joint secretary of All India Bank Officer's Confederation T R Bhat addressed the protestors, motivating them to carry on with the protest programmes.
The protest was held under the guidance of regional secretary of association K Vishwanat. Regional secretary of State Bank Officer's Association Satyanarayan were present.
