Kasargod: Businessman throbs to people's woes - donates one acre land

Kasargod, Aug 24: A businessman from here has shown to others that he cares for the people from his state who are undergoing miseries on account of flood. He has donated one acre land to chief minister's relief fund, and thereby stood out as a model for others to emulate.

P A Raveendran, who operates his business concern at Kanhangad, donated one acre land located in survey No. 44/6/ABE in Uduma village of Hosdurg taluk for the purpose. This land stands in the names of himself, his wife, Usha, and son, Akhil.

Raveendran handed over possession of the land to the government by handing over document about ownership of the land along with blue print and tax paid receipt to district collector, Dr D Sajith Babu. The estimated value of the land as per the current market rate has been put at Rs 75 lac.

The district collector, who received the documents, said that there is no need to pay stamp duty for this transaction as the land is being donated to help the people in distress. Raveendran along with his family members was present when the land was handed over.

In the meanwhile, the district administration has decided to depute skilled electricians, plumbers, carpenters etc under the leadership of Harita Kerala Mission to help flood-affected people to build back their lives.
