Udupi, Aug 21: “The chief minister of Karnataka H D Kumaraswamy has taken all relief measures for flood affected people of Hassan and surrounding places along with our department,” said rural development minister Krishna Byre Gowda here on Monday August 20.
Speaking to media persons in Udupi, he said, “Regarding financial assistance for flood affected areas, state government is trying its best to provide help. So far we have not received any response regarding financial assistance from the central government.”
“H D Kumaraswamy held a meeting last week and decided to submit a memorandum to the central government in this regard. People expected that the central government will immediately help them. But no help was received. We will do our duty in managing the natural calamity in Madikeri. The union government should not show step-motherly attitude towards Karnataka. It should not play politics,” he said.
“There are MPs from Karnataka and they have witnessed the floods here. People of Kodagu and flood affected areas are saying that the central government is neglecting them. They can join hands with state government. If they are neglecting, it is a petty politics,” he added.
Answering to the question about Revanna’s attitude while distributing food for flood-affected people, Byre Gowda said, “I was travelling and I am not aware about the incident. So I do not want to comment. It may not be intentional.”
