Mangaluru, Aug 15: Vikas Pre University College and Vikas College of Physiotherapy, celebrated the 72nd Independence Day in their campus on Wednesday, August 15 with great pomp.
Prof A M Narahari, registrar, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, the chief guest of the function, addressed the students after hoisting the flag. He inspired the students to develop devotion for the Nation. He guided students further to inculcate compassion towards others and love and bring the glory to the country.
Guest of honor Dr Vedamurthy C B, IPS, superintendent of police, DCRE Mangaluru, exhorted the students to understand the significance of the freedom and develop indigenous technology so that the dependence on other countries for innovative technologies such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Google, etc. can be reduced.
It was followed by an inspiring speech of Krishna J Palemar, chairman, Vikas Education Trust, who presided over the function, asked the students to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his initiatives like ‘Make in India’.
Winners of the various competitions held as part of Independence Day celebrations were felicitated by the guests.
Dr D Shripathi Rao, correspondent, Vikas PU College, J Koragappa, trustee, Dr Ananth Prabhu G, advisor, Vikas Education Trust, Parthasarathi Palemar, coordinator, Vikas Group of Institutions, principal T Rajaram Rao, Commerce in-charge Ayshwarya Rao, and Dr Manjula A Rao, counsellor, were present on the occasion.
Students hosted and organised the entire function. Prithvi, student, welcomed the gathering and Shreya K Gowda, student, rendered the vote of thanks. Sangeetha, Damodar, and Aysha Muskan compered the programme in Kannada, Sanskrit and Hindi respectively.
