Puttur, Aug 13: St Philomena aided high school here celebrated the patron saint’s feast on August 10.
As a token of gratefulness to the almighty God for the enormous blessings on the institution, the festal event began with a Eucharistic celebration held at the campus chapel. Fr Stany B Lobo, the former correspondent of the institution was the main celebrant, Fr Anil Castelino, the former assistant parish priest of Mai De Deus Church, Puttur, preached on the word of God. Fr Alfred J Pinto, the correspondent of the institution, Fr Prakash Monteiro, the campus director, Fr Peter Serao, Fr Ritesh Rodrigues, Fr Prashanth Fernandes, Fr Praveen D’Souza and Fr Peter Gonsalves concelebrated the solemn festive mass.
The stage programme was a cherishing moment for the management, guests and the students. A number of alumni have witnessed the beautiful programme arranged by the students and the staff. Fr Stany B Lobo presided over the programme and cherished the beautiful moments and challenges he underwent in making the dream successful. He
advised the students and said, “Your dream should become your future but your future should not become your dream.”
Fr Alfred J Pinto, the correspondent, being the chief guest of the programme spoke and briefed the mission and vision of the educational institution. Padmanabha Nayak, the retired teacher of St Philomena High School, was felicitated for his sincere and dedicated service to the school. He addressed the gathering and insisted on the importance of cultivating moral values in the life of students.
Samshir Ahammad, a scientist in USA was felicitated at the programme. Jaganivas Rao, PTA president, and Usha Kiran, joint secretary, shared their experience of being a part of the institution with the gathering.
Fr Anil Castelino, Fr Prashath Fernandes, and Shibira Jayarama Kedalaya the founder of Sandeepani Institutes, Baskaracharya, Rajesh Bannur, CMC member, Praveen Alva, Prof Arthikaje, retired teachers, PTA executive members, management committee members, staff and students were present at the programme.
Headmaster Oswald Rodrigues welcomed the guests and SPL Saheer Ahammad rendered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a beautiful cultural programme presented by 8th standard students.
