Mangaluru, Aug 9: Union minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday, August 8 ordered the officials to re-start the Mangaluru-Mumbai (IC 1680) and the Mumbai-Mangaluru (IC 1679) flight services from October 1.
Earlier during the day, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel met the union minister at New Delhi and urged to re-introduce services.
In the memorandum submitted to the union minister, Kateel stated that hundreds of passengers travel through Mangaluru-Mumbai route every day. As both the cities are growing fast, the service will help the businessmen, employees as well as tourists, he stated.
In addition, the MP also urged the minister to start new flight service between Mangaluru and Pune.
Meanwhile, Suresh Prabhu shared the news on Twitter. "Had a meeting with Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP/LS today. Discussed the issues brought to my notice regarding flight services from Mangalore. Have directed concerned officials of @MoCA_GoI to look into the same," he tweeted.
