Mangaluru: Blood Helpline Karnataka celebrates second anniversary on Aug 8

Mangaluru, Aug 9: These days when youth are using social network unnecessarily spoiling society, a group of friends who got together through social network on the motto that service across religions in society is a necessity, created by a small group through WhatsApp named ‘Blood Helpline Karnataka’. The group has indulged in the noble work of providing necessary blood to patients across religions and castes.

The group which was officially registered by Karnataka government in 2017, performs through 25 organizers in the hometown and abroad. It had more than 4,000 members through 20 WhatsApp groups. It also has a network of 5,000 members through Facebook.



It functions and provides blood to patients in Mangaluru, Sullia, Udupi, Raichur, Kalburgi, Mysuru, Bengaluru, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Blood Helpline Karnataka has held more than 37 blood donation camps with the cooperation of local groups and collected 2,886 units blood. It accepts urgent requests for blood and supplies blood on time. It has decided to hold blood donation camps in the coastal districts in August this year to celebrate its second anniversary. It has already held its first blood donation camp in Addoor.

Several organizations that have joined hands with them in the last two years are Al Noor Welfare Trust, Byndoor, Sufa Education welfare trust Shirur, United Brothers Chandahitlu, Help India Foundation Thokkottu, SDPI Manchi, Young Star Welfare Organization, Bhatkal, Sokers Ullal, Melangadi Cultural Association Ullal, Kulur Muhiuddin Daff Committee, Al Hunain Association Krishnapura, Addoor Central Committee, N W C Shantibhag, Kaikamba Friends Circle, Friends Manjanady, Arabian Friends Manjanady, Gulf Committee Tippu Nagar Loretto Padavu, Al Falah Kuppepadav, Badriya Juma Masjid Moodushedde, Muslim Welfare Association Moodushedde, SDPI Ullal, Panambur Muslim Juma Katipalla and others.

Blood bank organizations and hospitals who helped collect blood during the last two years are Indian Red Cross Society, Mangaluru, Yenepoya Medical College Deralakatte, Father Muller Hospital, Kankanady, K S Hegde Hospital Mangaluru, A J Hospital Mangaluru, KMC Mangaluru, Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, Rotary Campco Blood Bank Puttur, Red Cross Society Kundapur and KVG Medical College Sullia.

Blood Helpline Karnataka has expressed its gratitude to all groups and organizations, hospitals, donors of blood in blood donation camps, voluntary blood donors, social workers and media persons and hoped that they will help them in similar ways in future as well.
