Mysuru, Aug 5: The charred bodies of a woman and her child were found from the bathroom of a house at Mahadevapura on Manandawadi Road here on Friday August 3. Relatives of the deceased have alleged this to be an act of murder.

Gowramma (27), wife of Lohitashwa, a teacher in a private school, and her 18-month-old son, Niyal, were the ones who lost their lives in this incident. On the night of Friday, their bodies were found to have been charred in the fire of the bathroom hearth. Gowramma's brother, in a complaint made to the police, accused Lohitashwa and his family members of being responsible for the death of Gowramma and her child. The police, on the basis of this complaint, registered a case and arrested the husband, and parents-in-law of the woman. All of them have been remanded to judicial custody.

In a complaint, Gowramma's brother said that Gowramma was tortured since the last 15 days by not allowing her to use her cellphone, and that she had been killed by her husband, Lohitashwa, father-in-law, D A Jayashankar, mother-in-law, Pushpa Ratna, and brother-in-law, Arun. He said that the family members then burnt the bodies to ensure that their identifies are not established.

Gowramma's brother-in-law, Arun, is absconding. The police have been trying to nab him.
